Bellator 164 features Chandler vs. Henderson & Fernandez vs. MVP

Ben Henderson

The main event of Bellator 163, on November 19th will see “Smooth” Benson Henderson challenging “Iron” Michael Chandler for the Bellator Lightweight title.

The fight announcement was made following Henderson’s victory in the main event of tonight’s Bellator 160. The fight was recorded as a TKO win, but that had little to do with Henderson’s offense and more a injury to Pitbull, which isn’t clear how it happened. Henderson is a former UFC and WEC Lightweight champion, who’s won 5 of his last 8. Chandler is a 2x Bellator Lightweight champion, who’s won 3 straight. All 3 win have come via stoppage defeating Derek Campos (sub), David Rickles (tko), and Patricky Freire (ko).

Also announced for the card that will take place at the SAP Center in San Jose, California, is the 3rd scheduled meeting of undefeated Michael “Venum” Page vs. veteran brawler Fernando “The Menifee Maniac” Gonzalez. The first cancellation was Page pulling out, the 2nd was Gonzalez not getting visa clearance to head to London. Page is 6-0 in Bellator with 4 first round wins, and is coming off breaking the internet; with literally a skull crush flying knee knock out of Evangelista Santos. Gonzalez has 9 win by knock out, 7 by submission, has been a pro since 2003, and is 5-0 in Bellator, Gonzalez has earned 3 decisions wins in Bellator defeating Karl Amoussou, Marius Zaromskis, and Gilbert Smith.
