Bellator 164 in Israel Featuring Koreshkov-Lima 2
Bellator MMA has announced that Bellator 163 will see Douglas “The Phenom” Lima (27-6) attempting to regain the Bellator Welterweight title from Andrey “Spartan” Koreshkov (19-1).
The event will take place at the Menora Mivtachim Arena, in Tel Aviv, Israel on Thursday November 10th, with Spike TV showing the event on Friday November 11th.
Koreshkov is a Russian on a 6 fight win streak, who won the title from Lima with a wrestling based attack at Bellator 140. Koreshkov would scored his 3rd straight decision win in his first title defense, defeating Benson Henderson at Bellator 153. Koreshkov is 10-1 in Bellator with 6 knock out wins.
Lima is a Brazilian, who lives and train in Atlanta. Prior to his loss to Koreshkov, Lima had won 5 in a row by knock out. Lima rebounded from his loss to Koreshkov and earned this opportunity with a Bellator 158 , unanimous decision win over Paul Daley. Lima has opwerful hands and slick technique on the ground as proof with 12 knock out and 11 submission wins; but struggles against wrestling, as shown in his losses to Ben Askren and Koreshkov.
In the co-main event at Featherweight, UFC vet and Israel’s own Noad Lahat (9-2) clashes with Colorado’s Scoot Cleve (15-5). In the UFC Lahat went 2-2, starting off with a flying knee knock out loss to Godofredo “Peppy”, then taking decisions from Steven Siler and Niklas Backstrom; before suffering another flying knee knock out loss to Diego Rivas. Cleve joined Bellator on a 5 fight win streak and in his debut scored a TKO of Isaac DeJesus. Cleve then got submitted by Daniel Weichel, rebounded with a decision over Matt Bessette, but is now coming off a split decision loss to John Teixeira.
