Wonderboy Challenges Woodley for Welterweight Title at UFC 205
After waiting a year to get a title shot, Tyron Woodley (16-3) planned for fight with legends who aren’t event officially active yet, instead he’ll be facing the number 2 ranked contender Stephen Thompson (13-1).
Woodley is a former Strikeforce Welterweight champion, who caped off a 3 fight win streak, with a 1st round KO of Robbie Lawler, at UFC 201 to win the UFC Welterweight World Championship. Woodley was a college wrestler, is a explosive athlete, with knock out power, who’s won 5 of 6; and has 6 of 11 finishes by knock out.
Thompson is on a 7 fight win streak, coming off a unanimous decision win over Rory MacDonald, who was the last person to defeat Woodley. Thompson has been a Karate practitioner almost as long as he could walk and had a very successful Kickboxing career, before entering MMA. With 7 of 8 finishes by knock outs “Woderboy” has scored huge highlight knock outs of Dan Stittgen and Jake Ellenberger.
