The Atrisco Kid Faces Undefeated Orozco in Title Bout Dec. 16th
The Fantasy Spring Casino in Indio California, will be hosting a action packed triple header on December 16th with “The Atrisco Kid” Fidel Maldonado Jr. (22-3-1) taking on undefeated Antonio Orozco (25-0) for a vacant WBC title, in the co-main event.
Maldonado is 25 years old undefeated in his last 4, going 3-0-1 with 3 knock outs; giving the Albuquerque native 19 knock victories for his career. Maldonado who’s never been in a boring fight is coming off stopping Gerardo Cuevas, following fighting Art Hovannisyan to a draw.
Orozco is 29 years old and fight out of San Diego, California. Orozco has 16 of his 25 win by knock out but has fought to the decision in 5 of his last 6, but had a run of 7 knock outs in a row. Orozco had been announced as the number 1 contender to face Terence Crawford, who is instead next facing John Molina, but opted for this fight first, which should produce fireworks.
The card will also see in the main event a light heavyweight bout between Vyacheslav “Slava” Shabranskyy (17-0) and Sullivan Barrera (17-1), also at welterweight Eddie Gomes (19-0) meet Rashidi Ellis (16-0).
