Cody Garbrandt’s back will officially keep him out of UFC 213. The newly announced co-main event will see Yoel “Soldier of God” Romero (12-1) battling Robert “The Reaper” Whittaker (18-4) for the interim UFC Middleweight title.
Romero is from Cuba, now residing in Florida, training at American Top Team. Ten of his twelve wins have hav come by knock out, including his most recent, a devastating flying knee finish of former champion Chris Weidman, at UFC 205. Romero is now riding a 8 fight win streak.
Australia’s, Whittaker is on a 7 fight win streak since moving up to Middleweight. In his last two contests “The Reaper” has steped his game up with TKO’s of fellow top 10 ranked foes Derek Brunson and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. A smooth striker Whittaker also has 5 of his 14 stoppages by submission.
UFC 213 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and is headlined by Valentina Schevchenko challenging Amanda Nunes for the Woman’s UFC Bantamweight championship.
