Invicta Fighting Championships has announced Invicta FC 25 for August 31st, at the Tachi Palace Hotel in Lemoore, California. The event will feature both the newly vacated Bantamweight and vacant Strawweight titles up for grabs.
Just last week it was announced that Invicta FC Bantamweight champion Tony Evinger would be vacating the title and moving on to the UFC, to replace Megan Anderson in a match-up with Cris “Cyborg”, for the vacant UFC Women’s Featherweight title. Competing for the Invicta FC Bantamweight title will be Russia’s Yana Kunitskaya (9-3) and Hawaii’s Raquel Pa’Aluhi (6-5). Kunitskaya is currently living and training at JacksonWink MMA. Kunitskaya has 7 of 9 wins by knock out, ut is coming off a March submission loss to Tonya Evinger. Pa’Aluhi has won 4 of her last 4 fights, coming off submitting Pannie Kianzad by rear naked choke in January.
Battling for the vacant Invicta FC Strawweigght title will be Jodie Esquibel (6-2) of JacksonWink MMA and former champion Livia Renata Souza (10-1). Esquibel, who has won a minor professional boxing title before, has won 3 of her last 4, coming off a fantastic striking display in taking a split decision from DeAnna Bennett in March. Souza went 10-0, winning and once defending the Invicta FC starwweight title before a split decision loss to Angela Hill. The Brazilian got back on track in March knocking out, Invicta FC Atomweight champion Ayaka Hamasaki, who had moved up a weight class, in under 2 minutes.
