A sure to be exciting Lightweight bout top the list of fight that has been added to the card for October’s UFC 216.
The match-up will see “Groovy” Landon Vannata (9-2) against Abel “Killa” Trujillo (15-7).
Vannata is a 25 year ole, training out of the JacksonWink Camp in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Vannata started off his pro run 8-0, before a short notice submission loss , to Tony Ferguson. Vannata found his grove at UFC 206 with a spinning wheel kick knock out of John Makdessi. Vannata didn’t fare as well in his last fight and will be looking to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to David Teymur, from UFC 209. Vannata is a explosive athlete, creative striker, who also wrestled in high school.
Trujillo is a 33 year ole, who was last training in Florida, under Henry Hooft. Trujillo will be returning to the octagon for the first time since having a 3 fight win streak snapped by a submission loss to James Vick in February. Trujillo is a powerful striker, with a wrestling background, who has 9 of his 15 win by stoppage.
In the other announced fights at Lightweight well rounded fighters Evan Dunham & Beneil Dariush face off. Also at Lightweight former Bellator chmapion Will Brooks faces durable Nik “The Carny” Lentz. At Heavyweight athletic big man Walt Harris collides with England’s Mark “Hands of” Godbeer. At Flyweight Legacy vet Matt Schnell of American Top Team squares off with Mexico’s Marco Beltran & undefeated Russian prospect Magomed Bibulatov tangles with former title challenger John Moraga from Arizona. And last but not least Hawaiian striker Brad Tavares has been matched with BJJ expert Thales Leites.
UFC 216 is set for October 7, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Nevada.
