Whittaker out of UFC 234
Dreadful news coming out of Melbourne, Australia. It’s fight-day and the Middleweight title will not be on the line in the main event of UFC 234.
UFC 234 takes place at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne. Fight Pass Prelims are scheduled to begin at 7 pm ET.
Middleweight champion Robert Whittaker has been diagnosed with a hernia according to ESPN. It’s being said that overnight Whittaker complained of abdominal pains. The champion was then checked out by UFC medical staff and that lead to a trip to the hospital.
The main event of UFC 234 was scheduled to see TUF 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum challenging Robert Whittaker for the UFC Middleweight title. Unbeaten Israel Adesanya vs. former champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva has been elevated to headliner. Landon Vannata vs. Marcos Mariano will go from the Fight Pass Prelims to being the new co-main event.
