Shevchenko-Carmouche II title bout headlines UFC Fight Night 156
The only pre-UFC loss for current Women’s Flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko came from Liz Carmouche. August 10th the “Bullet” can even the score with “Girl-Rilla”.
The Women’s 125 lbs. title will headline UFC on ESPN+ 14/ UFC Fight Night 156, in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Shevchenko the current champion makes a quick turnaround, having just defended the title by vicious 2nd round knockout, from head kick of Jessica Eye 12 days ago at UFC 238. The “Bullet” is now on a 3-fight win streak since moving to Flyweight. A native of Peru, Shevchenko has 7 of her 12 finishes by submission.
Carmouche is famously known for being part of the first ever UFC Women’s fight opposing Ronda Rousey at UFC 157. More recently the San Diego resident has won 4 of her last 5 fights, including consecutive decision wins at Flyweight over Jennifer Maia & Lucia Pudilova. The number 3 ranked contender has 6 of her 8 finishes by knockout.
