Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix Quarterfinals laid out
The Heavyweight Grand Prix is in the past. The finals are set for the Welterweight Grand Prix. The next Grand Prix will be 16-men competing at Featherweight.
Like the Welterweight Grand Prix all fights will be 5-rounds, the title is on the line, & 50 Cent has offered up another million-dollar grand prize.
Unlike the previous two Bellator Grand Prix’s, this time the quarterfinals will all take place within the same month. The quarterfinals will be split up between Bellator 226 & Bellator 228.
Bellator 226 will be September 7th at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. The four quarterfinals will include the co-main event, former 2-time featherweight champion Daniel Straus faces promotional staple Derek Campos. Former Champion Pat Curran clashes with unbeaten Adam Borcis. Former title challenger Emmanuel Sanchez tangles with unbeaten Tywan Claxton. Coming off a decision win over Derek Campos, Sam Sicilia faces Pedro Carvalho, who’s on a 5-fight win streak.
As was the first announced quarterfinal Juan Aculeata will challenge Patricio Freire for the Bellator title in the main event of Bellator 228 at the Forum in Inglewood, California. Riding a 5-fight win streak, Henry “KO’ Corrales will square off with former Bantamweight champion Darrion “The Wolf” Caldwell. Former title challenger Daniel Weichel faces Saul Rogers, who’s won 7 of his last 8 fights. Last but definitely not least unbeaten AJ McKee faces former WSOF champion Georgi Karakhanyan.
