Usman vs. Masvidal headlining UFC 251
Kamaru Usman versus Jorge Masvidal has been given the green light.
The COVID-19 tests in Las Vegas came back negative. At this point Kamaru Usman defending the welterweight title against Jorge Masvidal is official as any other fight on the card.
All fighters will have three more COVID-19 tests and need to make weight once in Abu Dhabi.
This Usman vs. Masvidal has felt inevitable since the two had an altercation this past January in Miami during the NFL’s Super Bowl week. The two fighters saw each other on radio row, where as the name would imply was housing many sports talk shows. The interaction would see the two exchanging words before being separated.
Usman looks to defend his title for the second time while hoping to extend his 15-fight win streak. Masvidal has been fighting since the backyard fighting days in the early 2000’s. At UFC 244 Masvidal beat Nate Diaz winning the custom UFC BMF title.
UFC 251 is July 11th on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.
