Complete Card for UFC 258
The countdown is at nine-days till UFC 258 and the card has been finalized.
The main event is the long-awaited Welterweight title bout between former teammates. Kamaru Usman defends the UFC welterweight title against Gilbert Burns. Usman has successfully defended the belt twice so far during his championship reign. “The Nigerian Nightmare” is currently tied with Georges St. Pierre at 12-wins for the longest win streak in the division’s history. Burns is on a six-fight win streak, including being 4-0 at 170 lbs. to earn his title opportunity. The fight was scheduled for July but was cancelled after Burns tested positive for Covid-19. In December it was cancelled after Usman withdrew due to injury. It’s rumored the two when teammates sparred over 200 rounds.
The co-main event had been scheduled to see former champion Chris Weidman against Uriah “Primetime” Hall. That fight was called off after Weidman tested positive for Covid-19. Elevated to the co-main event is a women’s strawweight contest pitting Maycee Barber versus Alexa Grasso. Barber has finishes in seven of her eight wins, five by knockout. Mexico’s Grasso has her last five wins by decision including her August win over Ji Yeon Kim.
UFC 258 takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main card is an ESPN+ pay per view. The prelims air on ESPN & the early prelims stream on UFC Fight Pass.
