Nurmagomedov Retired, Lightweight Title Bout set for UFC 262

A new lightweight champion will be crowned at UFC 262 .

After months of continuing to reiterate that his announced retirement was truly happening the UFC has come to grips with the decision of Khabib Nurmagogmedov. And has made plans for the 155 lb. division to move forward.

First reported by ESPN, at UFC 262 on May 15th, number three ranked contender, Brazilian Charles “DO Bronx” Oliveria (30-8) will square off with number four ranked, America “Iron” Michael Chandler (22-5).

Oliveria has been competing in the octagon since 2010. Back then “Do Bronx” was one-dimensional, only a Jiu Jitsu fighter. Now 31-years -old and a threat no matter where the fight takes place but remember in the last 11-years Oliveria has forced 14 competitors to tapout giving the most submission wins in UFC history.

Chandler transitioned to MMA after finishing up his college wrestling career. The former four-time Bellator lightweight champion is an explosive athlete with wins in six of his last seven fights. In January the nick named “Iron” has his long-awaited UFC debut scoring his 10th career win by knockout defeating Dan Hooker for a third consecutive first round knockout.
