The Fight Sphere inside the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut hist Bellator 259. The thirteen-fight card is headlined by a rematch five years in the making, for the Bellator women’s featherweight championship.
The main event is the second meeting between Leslie “Peacemaker” Smith & regining champion Cris Cyborg. The first encounter was in May of 2016 and saw Cyborg come away with a win in 81 seconds after busting Smith’s ear part. Cyborg is currently on a three-fight win streak heading into her second title defense. Smith has won three of her last four fights with wins in Bellator over Sinead Kavanagh & Amanda Bell.
In the co-main event former bantamweight champion Darrion “The Wolf” Caldwell returns to 135 lbs. to face former LFA champion Leandro “Pitbull” Higo, who did miss weight for the contest.
