Adesyana-Whittaker 2 set for UFC 271
The UFC Middleweight championship of the world will be on the line at UFC 271 in a rematch.
During UFC 269 it was officially announced that February 12th from the Toyota Center in Houston Texas the UFC 217 headliner will see Israel Adesyana defending against the man he dethroned Robert Whittaker.
Adesyana came into 2021 with big expectations for his year. In March “The Last Style Benders” fell short of becoming a two-division champion after being out grappled by then light-heavyweight Jan Blachowicz. The Nigerian did end his year on a high note beating Italian rival Marvin Vettori by decision for a second time for his third successful title defense.
Since losing the title to Adesyana, Australia’s Whitaker has picked up three decision wins over top ten ranked fighters. Both Daren Till & Kelvin Gastelum former title challengers and Cannonier came in on a three fight win streak with his title shot on the line when he unsuccessfully faced “The Reaper”. Surely winning performances and the caliber of competition it’s come against has put to rest any conversation that “Bobby Knuckle” hasn’t earned his way back to this spot.
