Kevin Lee & Diego Sanchez set to Meet in March
On the eve of Eagle FC 44 the promotions first event in the United States they’ve announced the main event for Eagle FC 46.
The March 11th card will be headlined by a 165 lbs. contest between Kevin “The Motown Phenom” Lee & Diego “The Nightmare” Sanchez. Both fighters had struggles getting down to Lightweight (155 lbs.) & were considered undersized at Welterweight (170 lbs.). It fits within logic that 165 lbs. could be the sweet spot for both fighters.
Lee (18-7) won four of his first six fights in the UFC. A five-fight win streak put the Detroit native in place to fight for the interim UFC Lightweight title. Falling short of the title succumbing to a Tony Ferguson triangle choke started a downhill slide that would see the 29-year-old lose four of his next six. Leads to his release from the promotion. During his time with the UFC Lee picked up notable wins over Michael Chiesa, Edson Barboza, & Gregor Gillespie.
Sanchez (30-13) the original winner of “The Ultimate Fighter” was a crucial part of the early success the UFC had at the beginning of the Zuffa ear. Sanchez brings a one-of-a-kind intensity to the cage along with an unbreakable will and never-ending effort. The former title challenger still displayed his trademark ground and pound in his last two wins both decisions over Craig White & Mickey Gall, before losing two of his final three inside the octagon.
