Interim Bantamweight title fight set for Bellator 279
Raufeon Stots will still be fighting for the Bellator Bantamweight title at Bellator 279 but it won’t be against world champion Sergio Pettis.
“The Phenom” has been sidelined by injury. Instead of facing his teammate Stots will battle former champion Juan “The Spaniard” Archuleta. Stots is a Roufusport fighter who collected a Victory FC title on the regional scene. “Supa” is on nine-fight win streak. Since joining Bellator Stots has racked up five wins including decisions wins over Magomed Magomedov & Josh Hill. California’s Archuleta was a four-division champion in King of the Cage before joining Bellator. Archuleta made a declaration he was going to be a force at 135 lbs. and reenforced it when he knocked out former champion Eduardo Dantas at Bellator 222. At Bellator 246 “The Spaniard” won the vacant Bellator Bantamweight title by decision over Patchy Mix.
Bellator 279 takes place at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Hawaii on April 23rd.
