Freddy Sandoval set to make his Freedom Fight Night Debut
Freddy Sandoval has informed Caged Minds he’ll be back in the cage in early November in the Valley of the Sun.
The leader of the SFS Fight Team will face Brazil’s Lucas “Hulk” Barbosa at Freedom Fight Night 3. The event is November 4th at the Arizona Financial Theatre in Phoenix Arizona.
Sandoval stopped competing for twelve years before returning to the game in 2021. The owner of the FIIT (Freddy’s Insane Intensity Training) Facility has had a hand full of grappling matches since his return. The hunger to fight and the guts to jump at an opportunity led Sandoval making his professional Boxing debut against Michael Tovar on incredibly short notice. Five months later the phone rang again for a short notice call and the answer was yes. Before he knew it the dedicated father and trainer was on a flight to St. Louis to face unbeaten Romero Cotton at Bellator 276. The SFS Fight Team have recently partnered up with Frank Gomez’s Duke City MMA & Luke Aragon’s Rough Rider Barebell Club giving all involved an even better chance for success.
Barbosa is a credentialed BJJ Black Belt who’s been very successful competing in the IBJJF. The “Hulk” is as his nickname would suggest a powerful athlete known to showing off his strength in his throws and pressure passing game. The thirty-year-old is returning to MMA after a decade away from the sport. During 2011 & 2012 Barbosa fought under MMA rules three times. His debut would be a split decision loss to Geyson Cardoso. Barbosa would then fight Tiago Sena twice defeating him both times. The first by 2nd round rear naked choke & the second by first round TKO.
