Vera vs. Sandhagen set for 5 rounds in February
The UFC has announced a high stakes bantamweight showdown will headline Fight Night on February 18th.
The five-round main event will see number four ranked Marlon “Chito” Vera squaring off with number five ranked Cory Sandhagen. The February 18th UFC Fight Night will take place in Las Vegas and at this point is scheduled to take place at the Apex.
Vera also a member of the UFC’s Spanish commentary team has made major strides in his game over the last two years. In 2021 defeating Davey Grant and Knocking out former champion Frankie Edgar. The ball kept rolling in 2022 as “Chito” racked up main event wins over Rob Font and took out former champion Dominick Cruz with a head kick. Ecuador’s most successful MMA fighter finds himself primed and ready to make a run for the title in 2023.
Sandhagen had many excited about his career prospects as he started his UFC run with three finishes in a row. The Colorado fighter was able to still succeed has the competition advanced beating Brazil vets John Lineker & Raphael Assuncao by decision. After a setback against Aljamin Sterling, Sandhagen got back in contention with highlight reel knockouts of Marlon Moraes and Frankie Edgar. After a pair on highly contested bouts with former champions TJ Dillashaw & Petr Yan, Sandhagen cut up rising start Song Yadong to maintain his headliner status.
