Dodson-Grant Bantamweight Showdown set for Knucklemania3
The announcements just keep on rolling out as BKFC stacks their biggest card of the year. A Bantamweight bout with title implications just became official this morning.
Former UFC title challenger John “The Magician” Dodson will square off with former BKFC interim Bantamweight champion Jarod “Kid Gatti” Grant. The fight will be part of the main card of Knucklemania 3 at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque New Mexico on February 4th.
In 2022 John Dodson got back to making magic with 3-0 year. In April Dodson went to the big easy defeating fellow UFC vet Francisco Rivera by unanimousb decision. In August in front of his hometown fans, we saw a successful BKFC debut knocking out Ryan Benoit in only 40 seconds. Dodso closed out the year with a trip to Japan, and a first round knockout of Hideo Tokoro at Rizin 40.
Jarod Grant is a Bare Knuckle fighter with all his pro experience in BKFC. He won that fight and the next two by knockout. His next win still a knockout but this one from a doctors stoppage earned Grant a the opportunity to fight for an interim BKFC title. At BKFC Fight Night New York 2 Grant beat Anthony Retic by unanimous decision to win his first professional title. In July Grant lost the belt to Reginald Barrett Jr.
With champion Johnny, Bedford, recently, announcing his retirement from Combat Sports. It would stand to reason that the winner of this fight would be heading directly into a title opportunity.
