Trout vs Sanchez official for KnuckleMania3
A never before thought possible cross sport battle between New Mexico Combat Sports legends has been added to the biggest BKFC card of the year.
Former Boxing world champion Austin “No Doubt” Trout from Las Cruces will face the first winner of “The Ultimate Fighter” Diego “The Nightmare” Sanchez.
The official announcement of the fight comes a couple weeks after the event was approved by the New Mexico Athletic Commission. At that time this fight was pending approval from the commission after requiring extra medical testing from Sanchez.
In November BKFC announced the signing of the fighting pride of Las Cruse New Mexico. A month later the former WBA world champion won his fifth in a row beating Jose Sanchez Charles by decision in Hidalgo Texas. The most notable win of Trouts career comes over Miguel Cotto.
Sanchez was a part of the UFC from 2004 until 2021. His last three fights in the octagon saw Sanchez lose to Michale Chiesa, defeat Michel Pereira by disqualification, a loss to Jake Matthews. In March “The Nightmare” came up just short in a fight of the night battle against Kevin Lee in the main event of Eagle FC 46. Scone then Sanchez had been linked to a boxing match with fellow UFC vet Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy.
Knucklemania3 is set for February 27 at Colosseum in Albuquerque Mexico. The nights main event will see Lorenzo Hunt & Mike Richman unify the BKFC Light-Heavyweight titles.
Coming off a first round knockout of Jake Young, “The Brown Bomber” Wilfredo Santiago Jr. will square off with Noah Cutter a six-fight of Bare Knuckle. Josh Moreno won his BKFC debut by second round knockout, for his 2nd effort in the sport hell face Christian Torres who beat Cory Madden by decision in October. I speculated that Gene Perez would be on the card, that rumor has been confirmed and “the Kid” will take on Eric Dodson who won by knockout in 23 seconds at BKFC 28.
