JW Fight Results, Maters & Johnson find Early Submission Wins
The JacksonWink Academy in Albuquerque New Mexico host the first JW Fights event. A Super Heavyweight clash between Dwight “Akuma” Maters & Shawn “Grease Lightning” Morgan headlines the eight-fight card. Two special attraction grappling match will lead into a three fight amateur card, finishing up with two professional contests.

Recap:
The nights super heavyweight, main event, delivered action from the get go. JacksonWink MMA’s Dwight Maters made a successful pro debut submitting Hobbs JacksonWink fighter Shawn Morgan by arm triangle. The has its share of adversity as “grease Lightning” knocked down, Maters with an overhand left. “Akuma” composed himself worked his Jiu Jitsu sweeping to steal the top position. From top Maters would soften up Morgan allowing his to lock in the fight ending choke.
The co-main event saw JacksonWink fighter Marquis Johnson submit Hobbs JacksonWink’s Vincent Van Alstyne by rear naked choke. After exchanging low blows the Johnson straight punches started to landed. Van Alstyne went to shoot in for a takedown Johnson quickly stuffed the shot, spun around to the back securing the “rnc” finish.
The amateur card closed out with JacksonWink MMA’ Jacob Saiz landing an illegal knee to Team Wild West’s Esai Dimas putting an early end to what look like was going to be a wild scarp. Dimas took the win by disqualification.
Cody Noel from Hobbs JacksonWink submitted Alexandro Rodriguez from JacksonWink MMA with guillotine choke in the first round. The Concord North Carolina fight exchanged kicks with his Albuquerque opponent forcing Rodriguez to grapple finding the space to sink in a fight ending high elbow guillotine.
Luis Saldana of JacksonWink MMA open up the night with a first round knockout of team, wild West, Andrew Portillo. Saldana caught and dropped Portillo with a overhand right and knee for a TKO 17 seconds into the first round.
The night started off with a pair of grappling matches. The first match went the distance as Jacksonwink’s own Jacob Sedillo defeated Team Wild West’s Adrian Carreon by Decision. The second match saw Smart Jitz’s Matt Philibeck submitted Aaron Hughes of JacksonWink by rear naked choke. Philibeck dove on a leg but to no avail. Hughes jumped on a guillotine but when it was lost Philibeck got around to the back finding the rear naked choke finish.
