Peak Fighting Set to make May Debut in ABQ
Peak Fighting Championships will be introducing themselves to the “Duke City” on the first weekend of May with the big boys battling for championship glory.
Arkansas based MMA promotion Peak Fighting Championships is bringing PFC 28 to the “Land of Enchantment”. PFC 28 is set for Saturday May 6th at the Revel Entertainment Center in Albuquerque New Mexico. The promotion has branched out from their home state with events in Oklahoma & Texas in the last six months.
The main event of PFC 28 will see Braxton “The Beautiful Monster” Smith (5-1) defending the PFC Heavyweight crown against UFC vet Cody “The Freight Train” East (13-7). Smith gave MMA a try in 2014 losing to current UFC fight Chase Sherman. Eight years later “The Beautiful Monster” returned to the sport. After a test run at B2 Fight Series the 33-year-old has found a home with Peak knocking out all four of his
foes in the first round. East is a big show vet who won the KOTC title in his 7th career fight and the Legacy title in his 9th. “The Freight Train” has been willing to branch out from MMA also having fought Boxing, Kickboxing, & Muay Thia. Even traveling the globe with bouts in Russia & China; along with a pair of fights in the octagon on his resume.
The other currently announced featured fight for the card will be a showdown between top prospects in the women’s strawweight division. Fierce striker Lydia Warren (1-0) is set to square off with versatile submission artist Meaghan Penning (1-0). Warren won her pro debut in June at iKON FC 3 beating Sydney Smith by unanimous decision. Penning won a unanimous decision in her pro debut at Invicta FC 43 over Alexa Culp.
