BKFC Returning to Albuquerque to Crown 1st Flyweight Champion
Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships will be returning to Albuquerque, New Mexico for the third tine in August. The main event will see the crowning of the promotions first Flyweight champion as The Duke City’s own John “The Magician” Dodson faces off with Tampa’s JR “The Lion” Ridge.
John Dodson (23-13 MMA, 2-0 BK) is in the midst of an incredible run having won his last five fights. The TUF 14-winner has been splitting time between MMA & Bare Knuckle. In MMA Dodson has won his last three fights including a first round knockout at Rizin 40 over Hideo Tokoro. “The Magician” has been nothing short of spectacular in the squared, circle scoring two first round knockouts. In his promotional debut, Dodson needed only 40 seconds to knockout Ryan Benoit. And in February at Knucklemania 3 Dodson returned to flyweight, knocking out former Bantamweight champion Jarod Grant. Putting Dodson in position to realize his lofty goal of become a two division champion in two different combat sports.
JR Ridge (3-1 BK) a native of the Philippines with two of his three wins by knockout. “The Lion” debuted with BKFC. In December of 2021 scoring a first round knockout of Jerald Gregori. After a May setback against Frank Alvarez, Ridge scored a third round knockout of Justyn Martinez. At BKFC 32 Ridge solidified his status as a top contender with a dominant decision win over Chance Wilson.
BKFC 48 is set for August 11th at Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
