Welterweight & Flyweight titles on the line at UFC 296

The UFC will finish up its Pay Per View calendar for 2023 with a championship double dip under the bright lights of Sun City.

UFC will take a place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 16th.

The main event will see Colby “Chaos” Covington challenging Leon “Rocky” Edwards for the welterweight title. A fight that has seemingly been in negotiations for months.

At UFC 278 Edwards landed the kick heard around the world to dethrone Kamar Usman. A decision win in the rematch 7 months later prove “Rocky’s” win was no mistake.

Covington hasn’t fought since a March 2022 win over former trained turned bitter foe Jorge Masvidal. A relationship that soured to the point where Masvidal is alleged to have attacked Covington outside a Miami restaurant.

The cards other championship contest will see Alexandre Pantoja making his first defense of the UFC Flyweight title against number four ranked Brandon Royval. Pantoja won his fourth fight in a row at UFC 290 when a split decision saw him take the belt from Brandon Moreno. Royval is one of the wildest and most exciting fighters in the division. The Factory X product has won three in a row most recently stoping Matheus Nicolau after hitting him with a kitchen sink full of strikes.
