LFA 169 Quick Results, Walker out duels Ward in a Close one
LFA 169 emanates from The Factory in Deep Ellum, Dallas Texas. The nine-fight card is headlined by a Featherweight showdown between rising prospect and harden vet. The main event pits Landry “The Lone Star Kid” Ward against Alfred “Freight Train” Walker. Ward is a XKO and Combate vet on a three-fight win streak, while Walker has Kickboxing experience and makes his promotional debut having won five of his last six MMA fights.
The main event was a highly contested affair that went the distance. Landry Ward had early success staying long and getting the takedown. As the fight went on Walker found more and more success exploding in with overhands keeping Ward off balance to win a split decision. Between the co-main event and featured fight, we saw a mini title challenger tournament. Kevin Fernandez impressed as he dominated Joseph Camacho in the pocket and on the ground. Fernandez clubbed Camacho down with a left hook, softening till he found an arm-triangle choke ending the fight. An inspired effort that showed Fernandez knew he had to upstage Alden Coria. Coria stopped Aaron La Farge attempts to make their bout a ground-based battle laying the hammer down as a perfectly placed right knee met La Farge’s face as he shot in.
