Belcher Outworks Nelson at Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA

The Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi hosts Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA “Nelson vs. Belcher”.

A Middleweight when he was in the UFC, many dismissed Alan Belcher when he bulked up to Heavyweight and joined BKFC. Belcher won and defended the title. A shadow of doubt was again cast as Belcher announced a return to MMA. Size would play a factor as Roy Nelson would be in top position for a large portion of the final two rounds, but hard leg kicks and fast combinations would see Belcher as the more effective striker to pull out a split decision win and secure a fight with Junior Dos Santos for the inaugural Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA Heavyweight title.

The co-main event delivered an insane 141 seconds that ended with Randy Costa celebrating a walk off knockout win over Jason Knight. Costa started out by hitting Knight with a trio of high kicks leading to a wild exchange of hooks and upcuts, staggering each other that ended with Costa landing a trio of right hands for the finish.

Former BKFC Heavyweight champion Chase Sherman knocked out Carl Seumantafa 2:34 second in the first round. Sherman pushed forward flurrying punches with Seumantafa’s back on the fence before clinching up and dropping Seumanatafa with right elbow. Strikes on the ground get the finish. Bradon Davis put forth a high-volume effort utilizing his long-range weapons, the jab and teap kicks to defeat Joe Penafiel by unanimous decision.

While Joel Bauman put Curtis Millender in a tenuous spot on the ground in the second round and pushed a chaotic pace, it was the more traditional jab, low kick, high kick attack that earned the split decision win.

After getting takedowns in each of the first two rounds Junior Maranho knocked down Josh Weems in the third round securing the submission by kimura in the third round.  Alex Nicholson passed the test of checking his chin returning two left hands, one on the feet and one on the ground brutally knocking out Prince McLean in only 19 seconds.

An inflicted injury saw Fransico Trinaldo stop Sasha Palatnikov in the first round. Trinaldo knocked down Palatnikov with a left hand as Palatnikov attempted to return vertical Trinaldo wrapped Palatnikov’s right leg up and extended causing the injury.

In a scene marred in confusion what was thought to be a first-round knockout win for former Bellator & BKFC champion Hector Lombard turned out to be a disqualification. Lombard quickly took down Chris Sarro securing back mount raining down blows that Sarro tapped to. The referee’s official decision after Lombard’s in cage celebration was that the strikes illegally landed to the back of the head. Tyler Hill wrecked James Freeman with ground strikes from the crucifix position to earn a first round TKO.

Major credit to Alex Gordy for taking the fight against Mike Sanford on incredibly short notice. With a laceration under his left eye leaking blood Mike Sanford took takedown Alex Gordy taking the back and securing a rear naked choke finish.
