UFC announces trio of 2024 1st quarter Title Fights
The ultimate fighting championship has started to lay out what their calendar will look like and who will be fighting in the beginning of 2024.
The first pay per view of the new year UFC 297 January 20th in Toronto, Canada will see Sean Strickland Defending the UFC Middleweight title against Dricus Du Plessis. In September Strickland docked the mma world thoroughly beating Israel Adesanya for 25-minutes to win the world title. South Africa’s Du Plessis earned his title opportunity after beating Robert Whittaker is July.
In February will be UFC 298 the exact location and date still to be announced. This event will see Alexander Volkanovski defending the UFC Featherweight title against rising Spaniard, number five ranked Ilia Topuria. Volkanovski has defended his championship five times but was knocked out at UFC 294 by Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. Topuria dominated former interim title challenger Josh Emmett this past June.
In March will be UFC 299 where there’ll be a rematch for the UFC Bantamweight title. In his first championship defense “Suga” Sean O’Malley will face Marlon “Chito” Vera. At UFC 262 Vera stopped O’Malley with strikes from inside his guard as “Suga” suffered his only professional defeat. At UFC 292 O’Malley knocked out Aljamain Sterling to win his the UFC title. Vera had won five of his last six fights.
