BKFC Prospect Series Manassas Results, Shavers Comes Back to Score Knockout

The Salisbury Center in Manassas, Virgina hosts the BKFC Prospect Series. The ten-fight card is headlined by a middleweight showdown. Stanislav Grosu & Brandon Shavers will look to make their cases for a place in the rankings.

Adversity will tell you who you are. Brandon Shavers picked himself up off the mat in the second to stop Stanislav Grosu. Grosu was the aggressor early and a right hand in the second scored a knockdown. Shavers battled back in the third directing all his offense towards Grosu’s left eye. In the third Shavers would twice pull in Grosu side step and uncork viscous straight left. The second tearing a gash open under Grosu left eye as he kneeled on the floor, taking the fight ending 10-count.

Micah Terrill had an excellent first round cutting Cameron VanCamp over his right eyebrow and using awkward movement to allied big shots. Terrill becoming more aggressive in the second jumped into the pocket being met by VanCamp right cross for a walk off knockout.

Joshua Freeman had a strong first two rounds against Zach Calmus. Calmus weathered the storm and started to build his offense in third. A late flurry from Freeman would see him sustain a hand injury that would see him waive the white flag before the fourth round could starts.

Number four ranked featherweight James Brown should off excellent counter striking and a strong jab slicing up Bovar Khanakov forcing a do Doctor stoppage after the third round.

In a wide-open heavyweight division everyonehas an opportunity. Joe Ray made the most of his opportunity collecting a second round knockout victory over Ryan Shough in his bare-knuckle debut. Race scored three knockdowns in the two rounds the first two both coming from his right hand, the left scoring the below that Shough couldn’t recover from.

Shawn Brooks also made a great first impression as he knocked out Jordan Christiansen, a five-fight veteran of the squared circle in the third round by an uppercut.

After  the second fight on the card BKFC president David Feldman open and envelope. At weigh-in’s Nathan Rivera handed the envelope to Feldman telling him to open it after his knockout win. A right hook on the money hit Dustin Garrett so hard he did a Ric Flair, went down, got up, looked fine, and then face planted. In the envelope was a letter from Rivera expressing his desire for a multi contract.

History was made in the women’s strawweight as Crystal Van Wyk versus short notice replacement for Crystal Lawson, Cristina Crist was refereed by Michelle Myers the first ever female BKFC referee. Crist who drew blood first from Van Wyk’s nose but Van Wyk pushed forward moving Crist each time a right hand landed. Van Wyk returned the favor of a cut opening Crist up outside of her right eye. The Van Wyk pressure and right hands earn a unanimous decision victory.

The card opened up with flyweight action as Cary Caprio aggressively utilized the clinch, every moment he could wears no down Micah Livingston to a state of exhaustion before the third round start leading to doctor stopping the fight.
