For the last four years Alexander Volkanovski has ruled the UFC featherweight division. “The Great” dethroned Max Holloway in 2019 and has defended his crown five times. Many feel, that at 35-years-old vulnerability may be appearing after losses in two of his last three fights, both losses up a weight class attempting to become a two-division champion. While the greatest UFC featherweight champion of all time was attempting to enhance his legendary status, Ilia Topuria was building his case as the biggest threat to Volkanovski’s title reign. Topuria has dictated where fights take place with his wrestling, won three fights in a row by knockout, submitted a grappler, and out boxed a knockout artist. The 27-year-old, number three ranked contender has cleared every hurdle in such impressive fashion that has many feeling it could be the dawn of a new ear at 145 lbs.
