New Main Event, New Featherweight Champion to be crowned at LFA 176
A week out from LFA 176 the promotion has announced a new main event for the card.
In a surprise the rematch for the featherweight title between Javier Garcia & Elijah Johns is off. Elijah Johns will remain on the card facing Alfred Walker for the vacant LFA Featherweight championship. The belt is now vacant after Garcia opted to pursue a chance to get of “The Ultimate Fighter”. The main event was going to settle things between Garcia & Johns as their bout in July ended in controversy. At LFA 163 Garcia had an arm-triangle on Johns, the ref ruled a technical submission which the Johns team vigorously protested leading to the rematch. For now their story is to be continued.
Prior to LFA 163 Johns a Fortis MMA product had won decisions over Brandon Phillips & Masuto Kawana to put himself in title contention. Walker has his hands all over the fight world competing in MMA & Kickboxing while also being a trainer & promoter. The Muskogee, Oklahoma native is in a three fight win streak coming off defeating Landry Ward by split Deon the main event of LFA 169.
LFA 176 is set for Friday, February 9 at the Arizona financial theater in Phoenix, Arizona
