LFA 178 Results, A Night Defined by Comebacks

The Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Lake Prior, Minnesota hosts LFA 178 where an interim Light-Heavyweight champion will crowned. In the main event Kyrgyzstan‘s Uran Satybaldiev looks to become the country’s first world champion when he faces three discipline Black Belt Bruno Assis.

The heart and will of Uran Satybaldiev can’t be counted out after the most impressive come back in a night full of them.  For the first three rounds Bruno Assis was in control getting his takedowns and attacking with triangles and armbars. Satybaldiev dug deep in the fourth round taking control and punching to a finish after stopping Assis from getting extension on a kneebar.

Jeff Creighton survived a rough first round to grind out a decision win. Creighton was knocked down and cut open in the first round. The next two round Creighton turned the fight around getting three takedowns in the final two rounds for a decision win.

Diego Bianchini had a thrilling performance in his LFA. Bianchini tripped Bakhromjon Mashrapov his attempt to take the back was blocked and he quickly transitioned to a triangle choke, switching to an armbar gets the tap.

In controversial fashion Stav Koren beat Hussain Bakhsh Safari by knocked out. Safari quickly enacted his wrestling game plan forcing Koren in a phoretic pace. Away from Safari’s grasp Koren step up a straight right snapping Safari’s head around and sitting him down. Safari popped back up immediately being met by a right hook for a second an final knockdown. Safari was aware and confused by the stoppage as was the commentary team.   

Former LFA Middleweight champion Ozzy Diaz made a dramatic statement in his Light-Heavyweight debut. Forty-year-old Chuck Campbell scored an early knock down and had Diaz back. Building his way back into the fight Diaz charged forward connecting a jump switch knee stunning Campbell leading to finishing with strikes on the ground completing an epic comeback.

Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani also found success in his new weight class. The move up to Welterweight showcased new punching power as an overhand right sent Adam Wamsley into a chicken dance. The submission specialist would finish the fight on the ground as he continued to swing his hammers.
