Pantoja set for Flyweight Title Defense at UFC 301
UFC Flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja will be returning to his home country of Brazil to defend his title.
UFC 301 is set for May 4th at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Alexandre Pantoja will be challenged for his 125 lbs. Championship by the number ten ranked Steve Erceg.
The champion has won his last five fights. At UFC 290 Pantoja took the title from Brandon Moreno in one of the greatest UFC Flyweight title fights. At UFC 296 Pantoja racked up his first defense and second win over Brandon Royval in a grappling heavy battle.
Australia’s Steve Erceg has won eleven fights in a row. The fighter nicknamed “Astorboy” only started his UFC tenure at UFC 289 where he beat David Dvorak. Erceg is 3-0 in the octagon coming off a knockout win that sent Matt Schnell out of the rankings.
The card will also see a battle between ranked middleweight grapplers as number thirteen Paul Craig faces number fifteen Caio Borralho. And winner of eight in a row Michel Pereira meets Tajikistan’s Malamud Muradov.
