UFC Atlantic City Results, Fiorot peaces up Blanchfield

For the first time a female French fighter looks to have positioned themself for a UFC title Shot.

Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City is host to UFC Fight Night “Blanchfield vs. Fiorot”. The 14-fight marquee sees a showdown between top contenders’ number two ranked American Erin Blanchfield & Frances number three ranked Manon Fiorot.

Karate specialist Manon Fiorot found herself in danger in the first round having to fend off a guillotine from grappling ace Erin Blanchfield. Much of the fight there after seeing the longer, faster, French fighter scoring with long distance strikes. Fiorot bouncing in and out attacking with straight weapons like a fencer. The southpaw driving home her jab and occasionally adding in a swift left hand. Blanchfield undonated pushed forward the entire fight, many times running into sharp counters. Fiorot in her finest performance in the UFC controlled the distance, dictated the pace, and disengaged from grappling after the first.

While the current TUF season is leading to the trilogy fight for UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship between Alex Grasso & Valentina Shevcheno the winner will have a very claim technical striker, who’s on a 13-fihgt win streak, awaiting.

The Welterweight ranking will have a new addition after Jaquin Buckley won his third in a row stopping number 11 ranked Vicente Luque with strikes on the ground in the second round. The swift strikes and speed advantage from Buckley forced Luque into hunting for his takedown late in the first round. Luque would succeed in getting the fight to the ground in the second but at a price. Luque pulled guard putting Buckley in position to drop bombs. Unable to wrap Buckley up and become offensive Luque shelled up till the ref jumped in.

The night also had a bit of controversy as both former champion Chris Weidman & Nursulton Ruziboev both picked up wins that were heavily affected by officials missing eye pokes. Weidman poked Silva in the eyes a total of four times the final two forcing Silva to crumble. Weidman followed to the ground and the fight was initially ruled a TKO. Later the official decision was changed to reflect that the fouls were all deemed unintentional, and the fight was scored up to the point it was stopped. Ruziboev appeared to have poked Sedriques Dumas in the eye before knocking him down and finishing on the ground.

The highlight of the prelims came as Nate Landwehr scored a comeback knockout win. Jamall Emmers got off to a fast start stunning Landwehr with a pair of right hands. An elbow in the clinch saw blood start pouring down the front left side of his head. Staying in the pocket a short overhand right stuns Emmers. Feeling the tide was turning Landwehr connected with a perfect uppercut to Emmers chins. A clubing right in the clinch spun Emmers down looking up at the lights as Lanwehr dropped a pair of hammerfists turning out Emmers lights.
