2024 PFL 2 Results, Action packed night produces 10 finishes

The Professional Fighter League is at the Theater at the Virgin Hotel for the second week of action for the 2024 PFL season. This week’s action takes place in the Lightweight & the Light-Heavyweight divisions.

The infusion of Bellator talent to the PFL roster for the 2024 season has put a true buzz around this season. That energy carried over to a card that saw 11-fights produce 10 finishes. 2023 Light-Heavyweight champion Impa Kasangany coming off a hard-fought decision loss to Bellator Middleweight champion Johnny Eblen, returned to his division to start a march towards repeating. The campaign got off to a spectacular start as Kasangany stuffed Alex Polizzi’s takedowns, making his pay with right hand. Desperately attempting to grapple but being met by thunderous hammers the ref jumping in for a standing TKO finish.

2022 PFL Light-Heavyweight champion Rob Wilkinson returned after a year away picking up where he left off. Wilkinson forced short notice replacement for Phil Davis, Tom Breese into the clinch. A brutal onslaught on knees would drop Breese to the ground where follow up strikes seal the deal. Staple of the PFL, Clay Collard came back from being knocked down in the first round to drown Patricky Freire with a title wave of punches in the second fame. Clean crisp boxing combinations, mixing up targets and valuing speed over the wild haymakers being offered from “Pitbull” saw Collard overwhelming his opponent for a standing TKO.

Michale Dufort pulled off the night biggest upset. Mads Burnell confidently walked down Dufort for the first five-minutes. Dufort earned Burnell’s respect in the second forcing Burnell to shoot a takedown directly into a guillotine choke tapping seconds after getting to the ground. It was two years away from action due to injury for Antonio Carlos Junior but you couldn’t tell. Carlos Junior quickly took Simon Biyong to the ground, took the back and secured the rear naked choke in the first. On the prelim card former Bellator champion Brent Primus tripped Bruno Miranda to the mat taking the back sinking in the rear naked for a second-round finish.

Points will be at a premium in the Light-Heavyweight division as all the nights winners got six-points for first round finishes.
