UFC Vegas 90 Results, Allen Puts 7th Consecutive Win Up Narrowly beating Curtis

A seventh straight win could make the UFC “All In” on giving Brendan Allen a title shot.

The UFC Apex in Las Vegas Nevada is host to UFC Fight Night “Allen vs. Curtis 2”. The 12-fight card is headlined by a rematch between number 6 ranked Brendan “All In” Allen & number 14 ranked Chris “The Action Man” Curtis.

A split decision is when one judges has an opposing scorecard to the other two. All three of the top fights on the UFC Vegas 90 card were split decisions.

The second UFC 5-rounder of Allen’s career started off with controlling some grappling as they felt each other out. Curtis ramped up his volume in the second Allen stuck in shot hard enough to back off the Curtis pressure. Curits had his biggest moment of the fight in the third as a right-hand Allen searching for his legs. The fourth was a tale of two rounds as a high volume of boxing combinations and body work put Curtis in the lead. Allen surged back taking Curtis back closing out the ring. A decisive fifth round saw Curtis out in front putting Allen on the fence. Allen desperately shooting for takedowns. Curtis injured between escaping a leg lock and defending a takedown. Allen tracks Curtis down with a flying knee, a high kick and flurry of punches run out the final seconds.

Louisiana’s Allen will keep his number six in the rankings and still owns the second longest win streak in the Middleweight division. Allen’s fifth consecutive win against either a ranked or recently ranked foe ends a streak of four straight wins by rear naked choke, but should have many wondering how much more will it take to get a title shot.

The Leech latched on to Alexander Hernandez winning the UFC Vegas 90 co-main event by split decision. Damon Jackson closed the distance on the hyper athletic Hernandez securing a late takedown. Texas’s Jackson took Hernadez back a strong close to the second round. The base for a comeback was built in the early moments of the third round as a short right hand from Factory’ X’s Hernandez sat down Jackson. Jackson salvaging a 10-9 round again taking Hernandez’s back.

The night featured fight was also seen differently depending on the vantage point. It was Chepe Marsical getting the victory over Morgan Charriere. Mariscal pushed the pace early mixing in his takedowns. The second round is where you find a swing round that ultimately favored Mariscal and his forward pressure. Charriere would display how varied his skill set is finishing strong putting wrestler on his back in the final frame.
