Televised World Title Fight Coming to Albuquerque
The New Mexico Athletic Commission has approved a proposed August date for one of the biggest promoters in Boxing to visit The Land of Enchantment.
Legacy Boxing Promotions & Top Rank Boxing are planning on teaming up for a massive card August 10th. Main card on ESPN undercard on ESPN+. Unbeaten WBC title holder Abraham “The Hammer” Perez (10-0) is expected to be on the card.
The main event proposed by Legacy Boxing Promotions Gabe Carlin is an IBF Featherweight World Title fight. Luis Alberto Lopez (30-2) will defend against New Mexico’s Angelo Leo (24-1).
Lopez is on an impressive 13-fight win streak with 9 of those coming by knockout. Lopez’s last four fights has come with the IBF championship on the line.
Leo the former WBO Super Bantamweight champion has rebounded from his first career loss by winning four fights in a row. A majority decision win over Aaron Almeida and TKO of Nicolas Polanco set Leo up for another title fight. In January Leo defeated Mike Plania for WBA Continental North America Featherweight Title. In April Leo defended beating Eduardo Baez by unanimous decision
Important to note main event contract haven’t been signed yet. A venue has not been decided on yet.
