Tony Ferguson vs. Michael Johnson II added to UFC 197
Number 5 ranked UFC Lightweight contender Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson (20-3) the TUF 14 winner, will next be back in action at UFC 197, against number 7 ranked Lightweight contender, Michael “The Menace” Johnson (16-10) who’s the last man to defeat Ferguson.
Ferguson is on a tear with the longest win streak in the division at 7 straight, since a UFC on Fox 3 unanimous decision loss to Michael Johnson. The streak includes submission wins over Mike Rio, Abel Trujillo, Gleison Tibau, and Edson Barboza; not to mention a unanimous decision win over former Strikeforce champion Josh Thomson.
Johnson is a member of the Blackzilians, who’s won 4 of his last 6, but will be looking to rebound from consecutive decision losses to Beneil Dariush and Nate Diaz.
UFC 197 is March 5th in Las Vegas, Nevada, featuring Miesha Tate challenging Holly Holm for the UFC Woman’s Bantamweight Championship of the World; and UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor will challenge Rafael Dos Anjos for the UFC Lightweight Championship of the World.
