Nunes Challenges Tate for Bantamweight Title at UFC 200
On UFC tonight it was announced that Brazilian, American Top Team member, Amanda “Lioness” Nunes (12-4) will challenge Miesha “Cupcake” Tate (18-5) for the Woman’s UFC Bantamweight Championship in the co-main event of UFC 200.
It was originally announced that Ronda Rousey would be getting the next title shot, but with Rousey saying she’ll not be ready till the end of the year, Tate has opted to take a fight in the mean time.
Nunes has won 5 of her last 6 fights and 3 straight defeating Shayna Baszler (tko), Sara McMann (sub), and Valentina Shevchenko (ud). Tate has won 5 straight with decision wins over Liz Carmouche, Rin Nakai, Sara McMann, and Jessica Eye. Tate is coming off winning the Bantamweight title with a 5th round submission of Holly Holm.
