Fitch vs. Shields Slated for WSOF 11
After having a Welterweight title shot taken from himself due to “personal reasons” for the champion backing out, Jon Fitch (25-6-1) will remain on the WSOF 11 card now expected to tangle with fellow UFC vet, former Strikeforce Welterweight champion Jake Shields (29-7-1); who will be making his promotional debut.
Fitch is coming off a split decision win over Marcelo Alfaya at WSOF 6, bouncing back from losses to Josh Burkman (SUB) and Demian Maia (UD).
Shields will be making his promotional debut after parting ways with the UFC fallowing a unanimous decision loss to Hector Lombard; after split decision wins over Tyron Woodley and Demian Maia.
WSOF 11 is scheduled for July 5th, but doesn’t yet have a home. The main event is expected to see “Notorious” Nick Newell challenging Justin Gaethje for the WSOF Lightweight title.
