Bellator MMA has added to the depths of their Featherweight division with rumors of the signing of WEC and UFC vet Diego “The Gun” Nunes (18-4).

In January of 2011 Nunes was coming off a split decision win over Mike Thomas Brown, which extended his winning streak to three. In Nunes next outing at UFC 131 with a title shot on the line, “The Gun” would loose a unanimous decision to Kenny Florian; who would go on to challenge an loose to champion Jose Aldo. Since the loss to Florian Nunes is 2-2 with all 4 fights going the distance. Losing to Dennis Siver an Nik Lentz with wins over Manny Gamburyan and Bart Palaszewski.

Nunes who has 11 of 18 wins by stoppage, win or loose never had a fight not go the distance in his time under the Zuffa banner. Nunes trains currently at the X-gym but has also spent time at The Black House and with Nova Uniao. “The Gun” who has BJJ credentials is the type of fighter who likes to stand and strike. While striking Nunes implements a dynamic kicking based style. When Nunes is on he is on but sometimes when “The Gun” enters the cage he leaves the bullets at home.

A official announcement from Bellator about the signing is expected soon.
