Megumi Fujii Announces Last Dance
Japanese Women’s MMA pioneer Megumi “Mega Megu” Fujii (26-2) has announced that she will enter the field of battle one last time on October 5, at the OTA City Gerneral Gymnasium in OTA, Tokyo, Japan. The Vale Tudo Japan event will mark the end to an amazing 10 year career.
Fujii, statred off her career with 22 consecutive wins before dropping a split decision to Zoila Frausto Gurgel. Fujii would bounce back from the loss to win straight fights defeating Emi Fujino (UD), Mika Hagano (UD), and Karla Benitez (SUB). Following the win streak Fujii would return to Bellator the site of her only loss, this time competing against world number 1 ranked Straweweight Jessica Aguilar. Fujii would again taste defeat losing to Augilar by unanimous decision. Fujii has since got back in the win column with a unanimous decision win over Mei Yamaguchi. Fujii has 19 of 20 career stoppage victories by submission. Fujii holds notable wins over Lisa Ellis and current Invicta FC Strawweight champion Carla Esparza.
The final opponent for “Mega Megu” has yet to be announced.
