Spike TV to Broadcast Glory Kickboxing
This past week it was announced by both parties GSI (Glory Sport International) and the Viacom owned channel Spike TV, that Spike TV will start Broadcasting Glory Kickboxing events; the two companies have agrees to a multiyear agreement.
Glory is coming off of Glory 9 New York, which was the first Glory World Series event in the United States. A one night 8-man single elimination Light Heavyweight tournament saw Tyrone Spong prove he’s the King of the Ring with 2 quick finishes and a decision.
Glory is the home of top kickboxers Gokhan Saki, Daniel Ghita, Peter Aerts, Remy Bonjasky, Danyo Ilunga, Yuta Kubo and Giorgio Petrosyan.
So far this year Glory has staged 11 events with 5 numbered/ world series events and 6 road to Glory events that are set up to find new young talent.
Spike TV has been in the combat sports industry since 2005 with The Ultimate Fighter reality show TV series. Spike TV also broadcast-ed UFC Fight Night, TUF Finales, and UFC Unleashed. After the contract between Spike and the UFC ended is when Bellator made its way into the picture. Bellator first season on Spike TV, saw Bellator ratings be the highest in the companies history. Bellator had previouslu been Broadcast-ed on ESPN deported, Fox Sport Net, and MTV 2. The first season of Bellator on Spike TV was the 8th season for Bellator and took place on Thursdays. This June and July Bellator is having 1 event each month for the 2013 Summer Series which is taking place on Wednesday nights. The upcoming 9th season of Bellator is reportedly going to take place on Friday nights.
Glory Kickboxing events are going to be televised on Saturday nights. Not much information has yet been given about the debut of Glory Kickboxing on Spike TV, but it is expected to happen in October.
