UFC Middleweight Brain Stann Hangs Up The Gloves

Former WEC Light Heavyweight Champion, turned UFC Middleweight “All American” Brian Stann has announced that his Fight of the Night award winning bout with Wanderlei Silva was the last fight of his career.

Stann, Hangs up his gloves having lost 3 of his last 4 fights to Chael Sonnen (SUB), Michael Bisping (UD), and Wanderlei Silva (KO). In that span Stann’s lone win cam over Alessio Sakara by KO. Prior to the skid Stann initially won 3 in a row over Mike Massenzio (SUB), Chris Leben (TKO), and Jorge Santiago (TKO); after the move from Light Heavyweight to Middleweight. Stann had 9 of 10 stoppage wins by KO/TKO.

Stann while retiring from active competition, will not be gone from the UFC family as Stann will remain as a broadcaster for the Pre and Post fight UFC shows. It was also announced this week that Stann will be heading into the booth joining the Fox Sports South Atlantic Coast Conference football broadcasting team.

Stann also sighted wanting to spend more time with his family as a reason for this being the right time to walk away. After playing college football, serving in the Marines, and competing in MMA; it’s time for Stann to worry about his future and his future health.
