Guillard vs. Pearson Co-Main Event’s UFC Fight Night 29
The UFC has announced that the co-main even of UFC Fight Night 29 will be an explosive Lightweight encounter with Grudge Training Center’s
Melvin Guillard is coming off a knockout of the night award winning stoppage of Mac Danzig, in the first contest for Guillard as a member of the Grudge training center. In his previous 5 bouts Guillard is only 1-4 with losses to Joe Lauzon, Jim Miller, Donald Cerrone, and Jamie Varner; and the lone win coming over Fabricio Camoes. When “The Young Assassin” is on Guillard is fast, athletic and powerful When Guillard is off he looks beat and finds his weak submission defense exposed.
Ross Pearson won season 9 of TUF the UK vs. USA season by defeating teammate Andre Winner in the finals. After going 5-3 in his next 8 contests at Lightweight, “The Real Deal” would journey to Featherweight. At Featherweight Pearson would start off with a win over Junior Assuncao, but after a knockout loss to Cub Swanson; “The Real Deal” would decide to return to 155 lbs. Back at Lightweight Pearson has a knockout win over George Sotiopoulos and a decision win over Ryan Couture.
UFC Fight Night 29 will take place on October 26th, at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England; and is headlined by Michael Bisping vs. Mark Munoz in a Middleweight encounter. UFC Fight Night 29 is expected to be the first event broadcasted on the new Fox Sports 2 channel.
