Grice & Payan Out, New Bout Oliveira vs. Larsen for UFC 166

An undisclosed injury to Estevan Payan (14-4) and a serious car accident that involved Matt Grice (15-5) will force both men out of their scheduled Featherweight bouts at UFC 166. Their opponents instead will face each other as Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira (16-4) will square off with Jeremy Larsen (8-4).

Payan is coming off a promotional debut loss to decision loss to Jeremy Stephens.

Grice who besides being an MMA fighter is also a police officer and Firefighter, while off duty on Sunday was hit from behind as part of a multi car accident. Grice is still currently hospitalized. The Grice family has asked for privacy as they deal with abrupt and unfortunate situation.

Oliveira started off his run at Featherweight with consecutive submission wins over Eric Wisley and Jonathan Brookins, but has suffered back to back losses to Cub Swanson (KO) and Frankie Edgar (UD).

Larsen a TUF season 15 alum is still in search of his first UFC win after KO/TKO losses to Joe Proctor and Lucas Martins, in his first 2 UFC bouts.

UFC 166 takes place on October 19 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The main event will see the trilogy Heavyweight title bout between Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez.
