Bellator 116 features Beltran vs. Matyushenko & Welterweight Semifinals
Bellator 116 will take place at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California; and the first official bout announced pits Joey “The Mexicutioner” Beltran (14-10-0-1) against Vladimir “The Janitor” Matyushenko (27-7).
The season 10 Welterweight tournament quarterfinals will take place at Bellator 112 on March 14, at the Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana, with Jesse Juarez (21-8) taking on season 7 tournament winner Andrey Koreshkov (14-1), Adam McDonough (9-0) squares off with Mark Scanlon (9-2); on one side of the bracket. The other bracket will see “Fight Master” winner Joe “Diesel” Riggs (40-14) facing Sam Oropeza (10-2) and War Machine (14-5) meets Nah-Shon Burrell (11-3). Winner will advance into the tournament semifinals at Bellator 116.
Beltan is (0-3-0-1, nc) in his last 4 fights, including a promotional debut TKO loss to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at Bellator 108, while Matyushenko is coming off a Bellator 99 unanimous decision win over Houston Alexander.
In other Bellator news it has been confirmed that the 3rd Lightweight title match between Eddie Alvarez & Michael Chandler will be the promotions first pay per view event, with a venue and date still to be announced.
