Ellenberger’s Meet Medeiros & Saffedine at UFC 172
UFC 172 will see the Ellenberger brother battling on the same card as UFC stable Jake Ellenberger (29-7) faces former Strikeforce Welterweight title holder Tarec Saffiedine (15-3) and in his promotional debut Joe Ellenberger (14-1) collides with Yancy Medeiros (10-1).
Ellenberger and Saffiedine had been scheduled to face each other in the main event of UFC Fight Night 34, before Ellenberger was forced to withdraw due to injury.
Jake Ellenberger after a decision win over Jay Hieron and a knockout of Nate Marquardt; is looking to bounce back from a boring decision loss to Rory MacDonald.
Saffiedine has won 5 fights in a row including a promotional debut decision win over Hyun Gyu Lim at UFC Fight Night 34.
Joe Ellenberger has won consecutive bouts over Jesse Zeugin (SUB) and Joe Wilk (TKO), but has not fought since December 2012.
After 3 years away from MMA Medeiros returned to MMA only to loose his UFC debut to Rustam Khabilov by an injury stoppage (broken thumb). Medeiros returned to the octagon at UFC Fight Night 31 scoring a knockout of Yves Edwards.
UFC 172 is on April 26, at the Baltimore Arena in Naltimore, Maryland; headlined by Glover Teixeira challenging Jon “Bones” Jones for the UFC Light Heavyweight title.
