Eddie Alvarez (25-3) vs. Micheal Chandler (12-1) is easily the greatest match-up that Bellator has ever made and resulted in the 2 best fights in the promotions history. The unenviable 3 meeting will break new ground as the promotions first pay per view event on May 17th.

Bellator MMA has consistently said that their promotions format is built for TV and yet they’re determined to break into the pay per view market and why not do that with the biggest fight you could possibly make; don’t let the fact that there first to meetings where on free TV ruin anything.

After long contract negotiations and a court battle Eddie Alvarez stayed with Bellator and by split deciison won his 3rd straight fight to capture his 2nd Bellator Lightweight title. In his two previous bout Alvarez defeated Shinya Aoki (TKO) and Patricky Freire (KO).

Chandler after taking the title from Alvarez by submission at Bellator 58, won a non-title bout against Akihiro Gono (TKO), and then successfully defend the title by submitting Rick Hawn and Knocking out David Rickles.
