Woodley Replaces Lomabard Against Kim at UFC Fight Night 48
Tyron Woodley (13-3) is replacing his injured American Top Team teammate Hector Lombard (34-4-1) in the UFC Fight Night 48 co-main event against Dong Hyun Kim (19-2-1).
Woodley coming off a unanimous decision loss to Rory MacDonald is currently the number 4 ranked UFC Welterweight, who a bout prior scored a TKO by injury win over Carlos Condit. Woodley is 3-2 in the UFC with “The Chosen One” having scored spectacular knockouts of Jay Heiron and Josh Koscheck, but also looked like the frozen one in a split decision loss to Jake Shields. The heavily muscled Woodley at his best is a strong wrestler with explosive knockout power, but a limited gas tank; and a possible minor case of stage fright.
Kim the number 9 ranked UFC Welterweight is 10-2-0, 1nc in 13 UFC bouts. The “Stun Gun” has won 4 consecutive fights over Paulo Thiago (UD), Siyar Bahadurzada (UD), Ewrick Silva (KO) and John Hathaway (KO). Kim has a Judo background and early in his UFC career was a control fighter, but has recent grown as a striker, even adding spinning attacks to his arsenal.
The previously postponed from March, TUF China Featherweight final between Yang Jianping (6-3-1) and Ning Guangyou (3-2-1) has been rescheduled for August 23 rd’s UFC Fight Night 48 at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Arena in Macau, China; headlined by Michael Bisping vs. Cung Le.
